From Seed to Seedling

The story of how a simple idea slowly grew into Echoes Unheard.

What started it all!

A few years ago, I joined a book club, and the first book we read was The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. I loved it so much that I immediately picked up Circe, also by Miller, and absolutely adored it.

Reading Circe awakened something in me. It gave me a desire to revisit the old myths, but through a new lens, a fresh perspective that reimagined ancient stories for modern readers. I've always been interested in mythology, but I never really had the chance to immerse myself in it. Every now and then I'd read a book like Norse Myths by Kevin Crossley-Holland, The Forest of Enchantments by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, Mythos by Stephen Fry, and a handful of others. They only deepened my fascination, but life always seemed too busy to truly explo

re the subject.

Then I discovered the podcast Celtic Myths and Legends by Sian Esther Powell. Her enthusiasm for the subject is infectious. Episode after episode, an idea began to take shape in my mind. It wasn't fully formed yet, but I knew I wanted to create something that would share the wonder of these stories with others.

Work and everyday life meant that idea developed slowly. It took me a long time to think through what I wanted to create and, more importantly, how I wanted to bring it to life.

But the idea never left me. I kept thinking about it, refining it, and searching for a way to make it a reality.

After many months of planning, rethinking, and reshaping, Echoes Unheard was born.

The earliest version of the idea looked a little different from what you see today. As I explored different possibilities, it gradually evolved into what I believe is its strongest form: a community for people who love Celtic mythology and for the writers, artists, and creators inspired by it.

This is only the beginning. I have many ideas, hopes, and dreams for what Echoes Unheard could become in the years ahead. But every journey has to start somewhere, and I hope this first step resonates with others. My greatest hope is that, together, we can build something even more meaningful than I could have imagined on my own.
